Steph Curry And Charles Barkley Host Charity Golf Match To Benefit HBCUs

Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley will square off against Peyton Manning and Stephen Curry in a charity golf match at Stone Canyon Golf Club on November 27. Capital One's The Match: Champions for Change will kick off at 3 p.m. on the fall afternoon.

“I’m excited to return for the third edition of Capital One’s The Match and get out on the course with these three legendary athletes,” Mickelson said.

Mickelson is the lone tour pro participating. The PGA Tour pro has won 44 tour events and five major championships. However, Stephen Curry is no slouch on on the golf course. He is well known as one of the best golfers in the NBA and he made his pro debut in 2017. Barkley has also been an avid golfer for sometime now. Differing from Curry, his interest in golf has offered more comic relief than pro consideration. In 2013, video of his golf swing went viral for its irregular style.

"It's also going to give fans and viewers an up-close look at Stone Canyon Golf Club, a place that I'm extremely proud of and excited to show how special it is."

Proceeds from the upcoming event will benefit historically Black colleges and universities. Within the last 18 months, Manning, Barkley and Curry have made major contributions to HBCUs. Last academic year, Curry pledged to provide funding for Howard University's golf team for the next six years. Four months later, Barkley donated $2 million to Alabama A&M University and Clark Atlanta University. More recently, Manning created scholarship funds for students at six different HBCUs.

Capital One’s The Match will air on November 27 at 3 p.m. on TNT.
