An Arizona man has been sentenced after he pleaded guilty to murdering his ex-girlfriend, burning her body, and abandoning her seven-month-old child on the side of the road.
According to PEOPLE, Antwaun Ware was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree felony murder and endangerment in connection to the 2018 death of his ex-girlfriend, Jasmine Dunbar.
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office said Dunbar and Ware were heading to take a paternity test near Phoenix, Arizona in March 2018 when she disappeared. A couple later found Dunbar's seven-month-old baby in a car seat on the side of the road along with the mother's ID and belongings.
Dunbar's remains were found roughly three miles from where her child was rescued. Authorities determined that Ware beat Dunbar to death before setting her body on fire.
A GoFundMe launched to raise money for Dunbar's funeral expenses described her as a “sweet and struggling new mom.” According to the fundraiser, Dunbar's mother is struggling with her own health issues amid her daughter's death.
“[Dunbar’s mother] has many health challenges that make her financial situation very difficult, but has raised her kids to give of themselves and serve the community with what they have,” the GoFundMe page reads.
