A Texas man is facing charges after he killed a Houston couple and their six-year-old daughter and shot a 10-year-old girl who survived the bullet but pretended to be dead during his shooting rampage.
According to PEOPLE, 32-year-old Xavier Davis entered a guilty plea earlier this week in the June 2021 killing of Gregory Carhee, 35, Donyavia Lagway, 29, and their 6-year-old daughter, Harmony Carhee.
According to the Houston Police Department, Davis broke into the family's apartment and shot the parents in front of three of their children. Davis then shot Harmony and her 10-year-old sister, who survived the bullet wound and played dead until the man left their home. Once Davis exited the residence, the surviving daughter alerted family members about the incident while comforting her baby brother, who wasn't shot.
Lagway was reportedly pregnant with another child at the time of her death.
Davis was charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Further investigation into the incident led to the arrest of a second suspect, Alexus Williams, who allegedly had dated Lagway and ordered the killings.
"Alexus Williams, had a prior dating relationship with one of the victims, Ms. Lagway, and they had broken up shortly before the shootings," police previously said. "Investigators learned Williams arranged the robbery and suspect Davis was the shooter. Williams and Davis had been friends since they were children."
Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare said that Davis FaceTimed Williams during the murders.
Williams is also facing capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges. Her trial is scheduled for later this year, and she's pleaded not guilty.
