A five-year-old boy who was non-verbal was found dead in a Georgia pond roughly 14 hours after his disappearance.
On Friday (March 28), the Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) announced that authorities had found the body of Indi Bullock, 5, in an area behind the Reflections on Sweetwater Apartments, per PEOPLE.
Bullock was last seen at the apartment complex on Thursday (March 27) at roughly 4:25 p.m. Authorities said the child disappeared "after jumping over the balcony of his residence."
The GCPD noted that they used "multiple resources" during their search for Bullock. The boy was missing for about 14 hours before his body was found.
"It's emotional for everyone involved. It's hard for everyone to deal with when you end up with an innocent child who walked away from the apartment complex and ended up in the retention pond," Gwinnett County Police Corporal Ryan Winderweedle said in a statement.
Authorities said they don't suspect any foul play, but an investigation into Bullock's death remains ongoing. An autopsy report is still pending to confirm the boy's cause of death.
Bullock's mother, Chakia Carter, launched a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses.
"Indi was a bright, beautiful soul who brought joy to everyone who knew him. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled," she wrote. "If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you please share this fundraiser and keep Indi’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers."
